- The first Millennium Development Goal (MDG) called for the halving of extreme poverty by 2015. Sri Lanka achieved this goal by ensuring that the proportion of Sri Lankans living under the national poverty line was reduced to 6.7% in 2013 from 26.1% in 1990! However as regional disparities in poverty still persist, UNDP Sri Lanka is committed to further empowering vulnerable groups and promoting inclusive development for all.
