  • HackaDev 3.0: Hacking for Sustainable Development Solutions

    HackaDev 3.0 – UNDP’s Youth Social Innovation Camp, HackaDev, held with the aim of facilitating meaningful participation of youth to find innovative solutions for current development challenges, recently concluded at the Dialog Axiata Head Office with 5 teams being recognised for their creative solutions. Through a partnership with Sri Lanka’s largest telecommunication partner Dialog and with the support of the Ministry of Disaster Management and the UN Volunteers Sri Lanka, HackaDev was held to find innovative and next-gen solutions to identified development challenges.

  • Royal Norwegian Embassy and UNDP provide support to resettled communities in Palaly North

    Mr. Knut Nyfløt, the First Secretary to the Royal Norwegian Embassy to Sri Lanka, Mr. Mohamed Muzain, the Programme Manager of the UNDP Sri Lanka Governance of Local Economic Programme and Mr. Vethanayahan, the District Secretary of Jaffna, recently visited the resettled areas of Palaly North of Tellipalai DS division to hand over completed infrastructure facilities to the families in the area.

  • Businesses to play greater role in new development era in Asia-Pacific, says UNDP at Responsible Business Forum

    At the fifth Responsible Business Forum, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) today called on business leaders to take a greater role in the new development era in order to support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This Forum, opened in Singapore by UNDP and Global Initiatives, aims to address a sea change in the nature of development funding by creating a new partnership for sustainable development.

  • Game-Based Innovation for Provincial and District Planning

    A two-day training on Results Based Management for Planning organized by the Department of National Planning of the Ministry of National Policies and Economic Affairs with the support of the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Sri Lanka, was held for Sub-National Planning officials in three locations around the country from 5 to 12 November 2016. These trainings, held in Anuradhapura, Badulla and Hambantota for Planning officials from all Provinces across the country, were conducted by MDF South Asia Training & Consultancy and Fields of View, Bangalore, India.
